A manager needs to handle scheduling, accounting, front desk, housekeeping, personnel, and every other aspect of managing a hotel. A good training program will offer you the option of working while going to school. Many students find the combination of work experience with education looks great on a resume.

Make sure you select hotel management schools that show you how to run any hospitality business. Running a hotel is a large part of the education. However, you need additional training in food service and other aspects of hospitality to understand the bigger picture involved in the industry. Many schools offer electives in various areas and you need to take advantage of those extra classes. You can learn how to manage food and beverage services as well as hotels of all sizes. That will expand your skill set while looking good for future job options.

You want hotel management schools that offer internships for students. If you are not already working in the hospitality industry, internships are a must. These opportunities to gain real world experience are invaluable. They show you want the real world is like. They also look great on a resume.
